Based on this lesson, rewrite the sentences in each item into a single sentence.

4. Panda bears survive on a very limited diet. They only eat bamboo. They eat up to 84 pounds of bamboo per day.

Write one well built sentence:

Possible sentence 1: Panda bears survive on a very limited diet of bamboo, eating up to 84 pounds of it per day.

Possible sentence 2: Surviving on a very limited diet, panda bears eat up to 84 pounds of only bamboo per day.

5. The police questioned the witnesses. Then they left the scene. They started their investigation.

Write one well built sentence:

Possible sentence 1: After questioning the witnesses, the police left the scene and started their investigation.

Possible sentence 2: The police questioned the witnesses, left the scene, and started their investigation immediately.

7. Seatbelts can save your life. Many Americans learn that every day. They learn it from firsthand experience.

8. Advances in car safety have reduced the number of motor vehicle fatalities. The data show that. The data are from a number of studies.

Write one well built sentence:

Possible sentence 1: Data from a number of studies show that advances in car safety have reduced the number of motor vehicle fatalities.

Possible sentence 2: As data from a number of students show, advances in car safety have reduced the number of motor vehicle fatalities.

9. Isaac Newton was English. He was a physicist and mathematician. He formulated the theory of universal gravity. He is best known for that theory.

Write one well built sentence:

Possible sentence 1: English physicist and mathematician Isaac Newton is best known for having formulated the theory of universal gravity.

Possible sentence 2: An English physicist and mathematician, Isaac Newton is best known for formulating the theory of universal gravity.

10. Isaac Newton was born in Woolsthorpe. Woolsthorpe is a small village in Lincolnshire. He was born a few days short of one year after Galileo died.
